    • i am currently 25yrs.
Doing shiftwork at one semicon FAB i normally only get to rest on one weekend which is sunday and rest on the rest 2-3 weekday.
during my weekday rest day i feel very bored hardly can get a friend to go out with(have very limited friends). Been home playing PC game like 2yrs since ORD. And my work place is mostly Malaysia/Indian/or a few married men hardly get to go out with them during off day. When i thinking of taking some cos to also widen my social circle. Sometime i feel restricted also dun to my work day is 12.5 hrs shift. I feel my life is like stuck. Work, Pc game and slp eat. I am thinking of changing a new job like 8-5pm.
and my job is 3mth day n 3mth nite shift
what u guys think? should i?
or stay in this job till OLD LOL

I'm not sure which company will wait so long. Its a ploy to control its workers I presume. Do you have any savings to fall back on?

Thats good. Now, for safety sake, I would advise you to work for the 3 months or so until you get enough cash to last, and then take a part time job to suppliment a little, and at the same time you are doing a part time, try to find a permernant job.

      I hope it helped.

I think there's a formula for how much notice you have to give before quitting .....

I'm not sure how it runs in Singapore, but in others it runs something like 2 weeks for between 2 to 5 years, a month for any longer, a week for 3 months to a year ..... and you can quit without notice if less than 3 months ....

and it's enshrined in the labour laws .....

I'm no lawyer ... but I think we're being short changed here if employers are able to have separate agrements with the employees ....  the MNC in question probably doesn't have such a practise in it's home country ...

in the current market, I'd say you may be a bit stuck .....

there's probably 100 other FTs waiting for your job and willing to take less than your current pay ....

the only reason you are still able to find anything in the field is because of some obscure labour law that stipulates a certain percentage of singaporeans in any job .....

or maybe you can look at going back to school ? ....

Save up and quit the job. Then hunt for new one, since you say you need 3 months notice, so there's a risk that you need to take.

About the PC game thing, you can choose not to play what. Spend the same time reading stuff to upgrade your knowledge, etc.

    • I seldom hear of people having 3 months notice period. Double check your employment contract though in case you read wrongly..

You should start to apply for jobs now if you want to change job, perhaps quit your job
first so that employers don't have to wait for you for 3 months. Best is if you got annual leave to offset, then your notice period will be even shorter.

    • Standard employment act only requires 1 month's notice unless your appointment letter states otherwise ba.

Probably due to his company schedule tat thy require him to give at least 3 mths notice - to fullfill the planned schedule & not disrupt the operations.

Nobody shld stay in one job til old, it is highly not recommended.  U need to gain experiences in life otherwise u r wastin it.  Do watever u can to enrich ur life, e.g full-time or part-time courses, new hobby etc..to widen ur network.  If tis job cant compromise with ur needs, u shld seriously go.

      3 mths shld b enuf for u to get a job..afterall u are onli 25, not 35.  Tender now & search for a job while u r still serving the 3mths notice.

    • Well, it would depends on individuals... If you feel the way you do, it would probably best if you switch jobs.
