    • As fully expected, not one route from Sembawang. We are completely neglected again.

Route 586 is a bigger joke than Sarah Palin running for the U.S. Vice Presidency.

    • SMRT to introduce six new premium bus services

SINGAPORE: Commuters living in Toa Payoh, Sunset Way, Choa Chu Kang, Bukit Panjang and Hougang can look forward to more options when travelling to work in the morning from September 8.

SMRT is introducing six new premium bus services, in response to higher demand.

These services will run from the heartlands to Jurong East, Orchard Road, Shenton Way and Robinson Road during morning peak hours on weekdays. Fares range between S$3.50 and S$4.50.

SMRT said ridership for its premium bus services has grown by more than 10 per cent since April this year.  - CNA/so

Notice that SBST's Premium 558 and 559 also invaded Yishun, which is an SMRT Buses territory. Seriously I don't mind such invasions.

    • Shall see what SMRT would provide for the Toa Payoh one, sekali some Coaster, it serves Lor 1 and 2 which is served by MRT, of which it takes 15 mins to reach Raffles Place from Braddell (provided you get on the first train which arrives). At least 535 serves the portion of Toa Payoh with more people and without MRT.

    • Ok, nice one, Toa Payoh one uses Sims Way and Nicoll Highway, which is jammed up every morning. And they can't do the 14e and 196e way cos they need to stop at bus stop.

    • It seems that it takes ERP and increasing fuel prices to push people to take premium services. The previous batch of premium services introduced before the ERP started (ie 543, 555, 556, 557 etc) are just left with 541, 547, 571, 572 and 573.

    • Looks like 586 doesn’t go according to what they have planned initially :

Premium Bus Service between Bukit Panjang Ring Road and Orchard Road/Shenton Way

    • 586 - MRT/LRT faster and cheaper
      589 - Clementi Rd Jam
      590 - There's 557 to Shenton Way, and $4.50?????

597 - Braddell MRT and Nicoll Highway Jam
598 - The problem is would they take a not?

      599 - I prefer 107 or 162.
