    • These few weeks I have been taking taxis because my car was in the shop, i noticed there is quite a lot of NTUC taxis with this iCabTV screens.  quite interesting because it has news, and entertainment, and I was able to search for nearby hotels, restuarants, hawkers.... has anyone seen this lately?

    • Yeah I agree the info on iCabTV is more for tourist, but I also saw some promotions leh. like free taxi voucher if you SMS in.  I tried but don't know if I will win, hopefully I will...;-)  Anyways, although a lot of junk like ads and stuff but I also saw some CNBC news clips and that was kinda useful, hope they can improve loh, at least riding these iCabTV taxis isn't so boring like before, can ignore the taxi uncle and just look at the screen...hehe

...sat in a couple of these iCabTV cabs myself since I don't have a car here in Singapore and have to take them to commute everyday.

was quite amused when I sat into one initially a couple month ago... but, I got totally bored after 5 minutes. as I only see some news clips and latest movie trailers with some stupid TVCs.

interestingly, I sat into one this morning and was playing with it more, and found out there's horoscope/zodiac, nearby shops/restaurants, ATMs, where to go & eat, stocks, events, latest movie ratings and showtimes info, etc... even got promos to get free taxi rides... hmm...big improvement....hope they do keep the promos coming ;p

cabbie actually told me in the near future should add flight info, lotto results...and services like movie/concert bookings, bluetooth promo coupon downloads, etc.

screen is a little dim by default under sun, good that it allow you to adjust the brightness and volume.

I have to say, overall Singapore taxi is more advanced then Shanghai or other Asian cities I've been to where if there's a TV, it is a tiny screen blasting boring advertisements at you which I can't even turn off. :(

okay...better not be the reason for another fare hike.
