    • Manchester United and England midfielder Michael Carrick - who himself has moonlighted as a roadie recently - has revealed which bands and artists he and his team-mates play in their dressing room before playing matches.

Writing a column in tomorrow's (August 13) issue of NME, Carrick also revealed the musical tastes of Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The midfielder explained that Manchester United typically prepare for a game by listening to "upbeat, R&B-type stuff, dance or hip-hop".

He went on to reveal that defender Rio Ferdinand often takes charge of the dressing room stereo, playing songs by the likes of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg.

Carrick explains that right-back Gary Neville favours Oasis, often attempting to induce team singalongs. "There's a rumour he [Neville] used to play a bit of guitar," Carrick said.

The midfielder also revealed that his manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, is "more of a Frank Sinatra, Rat Pack man," but didn't usually get involved in stereo selections, "apart from getting a bit mad that it's being played too loudly".
