should i get 2000 or 3000? replied by MaroonK @ Fri, 20 Nov 2009 15:31:59 +0800

should i get either the 'older' psp 2000 or the 'newer'
psp3000?heard about the flaws bout the psp3000.Only psp2000 can be
fully 'ahem''hacked',and on the other hand the psp3000 is only half
hacked with major flaws like needing to hack it again when the
battery is taken out and when games lack hanks and needs to be
turned off we need to hack it again.I m confused should i wait for
a new hack that solves these problems??or get a 2000?

Complained against Fun Box in Far East Plaza replied by tarutaru @ Thu, 24 Sep 2009 22:19:54 +0800

Having saw the PSP 3000 series promotion, $249, on the web,
my colleagues wanna buy the 2x PSP 3000 from this shop. So, on
Tues, they decide to call the owner up to see whether is this
still available. Initially, the owner tell me it's still available
but must pick up in Far East Plaza. On Wednesday, I went down to
pick up for them. The sales there tell me the colors my colleagues
want were not available, and he recommend me why not try Sim
Lim or Queensway Shopping Centre if I still want the colors maybe I
can even get it cheaper. So I left the shop to Sim Lim, but I not
able to find anything better in price and color available in either
place. So I went back today to this shop, but the same sales tell
me he can no longer sell me at the price yesterday because PSP
3000 price just went up last night due to the new stock. He
told me that the current price is $285. I was thinking what the
fark is this, so I called the owner up the owner at 1st tell me
he'll talk to the sales, after a while he called the sales and
minutes after discussion the owner hung up and the sales tell me
the owner tell him cannot sell $249 liao. I ask the sales so if the
owner going to get back to me with a answer but a few minutes the
owner did not called me back so I tried to call him again, this
cowardly owner did not dare to pick up the phone. So angrily I left
the place and I got the PSPs from another shop in a floor below for
$250. So I think anyone wanna get items from this cheat shop can
reconsider again despite on the brochure show only $249 for PSP
3000 series even today morever the PSPs there are not even new
stocks, it's the same old stocks left from yesterday.

psp need to update speed? replied by limpper @ Mon, 14 Sep 2009 05:03:57 +0800

what does PSP firmware means?

This is a common question, actually, and you're spot on when you
call it "firmware". The firmware on the Sony Playstation Portable
(PSP) is basically the same thing as the operating system on your
computer. If you're running a PC, for example, you might have
Windows 98 or Windows XP, but even with a given operating system,
you might have Windows XP or Windows XP SP2 (SP = System Patch).
Macs are the same way, with MacOS 9 for old timers versus Mac OS X,
but Mac OS X is broken down into lots of different versions,
10.2.x, 10.3.x and the latest as of this writing, 10.4.6.

The firmware on the Sony PSP is what you're using when you move
from looking at pictures to listening to your favorite MP3 song,
watching a movie or playing a game. The game specifics itself are
controlled by the given game's software, of course, but that's
exactly like playing Halo 2 on your Windows box: Windows controls
the basic functionality of the computer, but Halo 2 is actually
what's putting all those slick game graphics on the screen, pushing
out the audio, and so on.

The Sony PSP has gone through quite a number of different
firmware versions since its initial release, actually, with the
original units running 1.1, then Sony releasing 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and
now, 2.6 as the latest firmware release. But how do you know what
version you're running?

To figure out what version of Sony PSP firmware you have on your
PSP, push the little "home" button so you can get to the top level
navigation where you can move between functional areas, then use
the left arrow to move all the way to Settings,
then use the up and down arrows as appropriate to find
System Settings:

Push the "X" button to select System Settings and you'll get to
System Information:

Finally, push the "X" button one more time and you'll find out
what version of the firmware you have on your PSP:

<img src=

this is the vsh menu that allows you to adjust the speed of the
PSP.

it has nothing to do with what so ever external kind of hack.
always rmb that, to play downloaded games, that's NO NEED to do a
physical modification on the PSP itself.

everything should be done on the software modification. and i
think before you actually buy any PSP, you must make sure
that the PSP is hackable.

look for out for firmwares, if it's a phat (1000) it's mod-able
regardless of the firmware version it carries.

if it's a slim (2000), check that it have a firmware version of
5.03 or anything that's below it.
DO NOT
attempt to accept any PSP slim of a higher firmware, UNLESS you,
yourself is sure that the PSP does not carry a v3 motherboard.
which i guess you dont know how to.

if it's a PSP 3000, check that it has a firmware of 5.03 or any
that's below.
STRICTLY DO
NOT accept any PSP 3k that has a higher firmware
then that.

psp need to update speed? replied by limywv @ Mon, 14 Sep 2009 03:43:56 +0800

NO! The scammers these days are really getting bolder...

No such thing as a "lag" psp. The "speed" he is mentioning
should be the M33 menu (Press 'select' while in the home
screen).

My theory is that he will purposely configure your psp to the
lowest processor speed first, before you bring it home. Once you
reach home you will find that it works ridiculously slow. Assuming
you have no idea about the technical details, you would return to
his shop for a $180 "repair", which is just a simple series of
button presses.

WTF, conmen and their shitty tactics
